The Medical Information Associate is responsible for creating and providing timely, accurate and balanced medical/scientific and technical information (e.g., standard response documents, scientific slide decks, clinical dossiers) for employee and Medical Information Call Center use to respond to medical questions; document and respond to medical inquiries as required; create positive customer interactions; capture potential adverse events; and provide disease state, product, and Medical Information function training to internal groups. The Medical Information Associate will also provide high-quality review of promotional materials and assist with other Medical Affairs activities as needed.
Creation of Medical Content
Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify scientific information to meet customer needs.
Create, review, and maintain Medical Affairs scientific materials, including but not limited to standard and customized response documents, scientific slide decks, and clinical dossier/managed market documents in collaboration with MI Leads, Medical Affairs and other functional area colleagues.
Coordinate with Clinical, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs colleagues, and any relevant vendor and/or outsource provider to develop content.
Create and/or review for accuracy submissions to external Drug Information Resources and Evidence-Based Practice Centers.
Participate in the compendia submission/review process for Medical Affairs when requested.
Customer Engagement, Training, and Clinical Knowledge
Represents Spark in a professional, ethical, compassionate, and scientifically credible manner at all times.
Customer Engagement: Respond to Medical Inquiries and engage in appropriate scientific information exchanges with Health Care Providers via multiple channels (e.g., verbal, written, approved technologies).
Provide staffing support for the Medical Information booth at scientific/medical congresses/conventions.
Provide scientific training to Commercial/Field Personnel/Medical Affairs colleagues.
Maintains clinical knowledge through comprehensive education including attendance at relevant symposia, scientific workshops, and review of key journals. Participation in required internal training, presentations and journal clubs.
Promotion Review, Compliance, and Administrative
Provides Medical review to promotional materials as needed by:
Collaborating with other Medical Affairs team members to provide strategic scientific consults on brand messages.
Reviewing promotional materials for content and medical/scientific accuracy.
Creation, review and approval of clinical Data on File Packets to support promotional claims.
Adheres to regulatory and compliance guidelines and company policies in all aspects of scientific dissemination of information including responses to unsolicited requests for medical information.
Addresses administrative and reporting needs in timely and organized fashion.
(1) Search, evaluate, and summarize data on file and the published medical and scientific literature.
(2) Work independently yet ensure strategic alignment of information with key internal stakeholders and experts, as necessary.
(3) Identify emerging medical trends, marketplace issues (e.g., Medical Inquiry Trends, Business Intelligence) and quality assurance issues and share with appropriate personnel.
(4) ensure adherence to departmental and corporate policies and quality standards.
Ability to respond to Medical Inquiries and engage in appropriate scientific information exchanges with Health Care Professionals via multiple channels (e.g., verbal, written, approved technologies) that support the appropriate use of Spark products.
Understanding of regulatory and legal guidelines regarding medical information strategy and execution.
Ability to effectively manage projects is required.
Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
Excellent computer skills: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
RPh or PharmD highly preferred; PhD with relevant experience may be considered. A licensure for professional practice highly preferred.
Generally has 2 years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry within medical affairs (Medical Information or Medical Communications); or a specialized post-doctoral Medical Information industry fellowship.
Knowledge of medical information approaches and best practices is required.
Specific experience providing medical information in a rare disease environment preferred. Knowledge of genetics and ophthalmology, particularly retinal disorders, and/or hemophilia preferred.
Clear understanding of medical practice, healthcare systems, payer environment, and clinical decision making guidelines as they impact patient care.
